The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shirow throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shirow takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Fuentes connects with a right hand. Shirow shakes it off.
Fuentes bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Fuentes lands a jab-cross combination.
It looks like Nobunaga Shirow has been cut.
Shirow throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fuentes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shirow.
Shirow closes the distance and clinches up with Fuentes, looking for a takedown. Shirow pushes Fuentes against the cage but Fuentes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Shirow misses with a hook.
Shirow takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Shirow scores with a sloppy right hand. Fuentes should have avoided that one.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shirow.
Fuentes throws a quick inside leg kick.
Shirow is breathing heavily.
Fuentes scores with a nice strike.
Shirow tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Shirow ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fuentes moves away.
A nice leg kick lands there from Fuentes.
That's one minute gone in the round.
No luck for Shirow with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nobunaga Shirow. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fuentes scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Fuentes throws a leg kick which misses Shirow's front leg but catches the back leg as Shirow tries to avoid it.
Fuentes lands a really nice looking cross but Shirow seems unphased.
Shirow is rocked!
Fuentes drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Shirow's head, knocking him out cold! Fuentes is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Pedro Fuentes!
