Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between swg le fay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Boa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boa is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Zappa-Why does it hurt when I pee?. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, swg le fay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Boa!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

le fay is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Boa's half guard.
le fay thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Boa's head.

le fay is looking for a kimura but Boa is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for le fay to get the leverage.

le fay wants to work for an arm triangle but Boa is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Boa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. le fay is working away from the top position though.

Boa wants to get back to full guard.
le fay missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Boa leaves le fay with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
swg le fay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

le fay changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boa tries to avoid it but le fay manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boa to the ground. Boa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
le fay tries for a takedown but Boa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
le fay is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Boa might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control le fay kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

le fay has gone for a leg lock! Boa slips out almost immediately though and dives into le fay's guard.

Boa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. le fay swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
le fay gets back to full guard.

Boa has gone for a leg lock! le fay slips out almost immediately though and dives into Boa's guard.
le fay tries to free his leg and advance position but Boa is retaining full guard.
le fay is working hard here to advance position.
le fay advances position into side control!
Boa tries to bench press le fay off him but le fay keeps the position.
le fay advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that swg le fay will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Boa closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Boa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by le fay, who protects the arm well.

Boa is trying to get an arm triangle but le fay is defending well.
le fay manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

le fay is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

le fay looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Boa can do anything to dispel that myth.
Boa wants to control but le fay is keeping busy.
Boa is breathing heavily.

le fay is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

le fay moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Boa.
le fay sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Boa is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

le fay thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

le fay tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no le fay has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

le fay is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Boa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

le fay tries for a kimura but Boa is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boa is trying to improve his position.
le fay tries to advance to mount but can't.
Boa has one of le fay's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

le fay goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Boa rolls with the submission and now he's on top in le fay's guard! Nice work there by Boa!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Boa working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
le fay sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
le fay regains full guard. Nicely done.

le fay working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Boa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Boa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
swg le fay overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


le fay misses with an uppercut. Boa saw that one coming.
No joy there for le fay, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
le fay tries to clinch but Boa moves out of range.
le fay with a poor takedown

and Boa counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Boa is trying to land a reversal but le fay doesn't like that idea too much. He pushed the legs to the side and dives into side control. He's managed to grab a loose arm triangle. le fay is tightening it up though! This could be trouble for Boa! Boa trying desperately to escape but he's gone limp! He's out! Wooooorld class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from le fay!
