Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Grimaldi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Lassiter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lassiter has chosen Hey Superstar - Madina Lake as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Lassiter!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grimaldi throws an overhand right that lands on Lassiter's shoulder, as Lassiter tries to avoid the shot.
Grimaldi gets cracked there but stands up to it.


It looks like Mike Grimaldi has been cut.
Lassiter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Grimaldi throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lassiter sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Lassiter stuffs the takedown attempt from Grimaldi. Grimaldi gets slowly back to his feet.
Paul Lassiter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed right hand from Grimaldi misses the target.

Lassiter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Grimaldi, pushing him back against the cage.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Lassiter tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Lassiter is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Grimaldi gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Lassiter swings wildly with an uppercut but Grimaldi uses good head movement to avoid it.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Lassiter.
Lassiter goes for a takedown attempt but Grimaldi pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mike Grimaldi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Lassiter.

Grimaldi closes the distance and clinches up with Lassiter, looking for a takedown. Grimaldi pushes Lassiter against the cage but Lassiter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Grimaldi in particular looking to stall.

Lassiter tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Grimaldi counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Grimaldi is stalling in the full guard.
Lassiter wants to stand but Grimaldi is controlling the position.
Grimaldi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Grimaldi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Grimaldi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lassiter tries to clinch but Grimaldi moves away

and Grimaldi counters by clinching up.
Grimaldi wants to break free but Lassiter has control.
Grimaldi is trying to force a seperation but Lassiter has the dominant position.
Grimaldi's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Lassiter throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Lassiter lands with a light punch inside.
Grimaldi goes for a takedown attempt but Lassiter pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Lassiter ducks under a wild hook from Grimaldi.
Lassiter misses with a series of wild punches.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lassiter tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Grimaldi counters with a two punch combo.
Grimaldi circles away from the clinch attempt
and Grimaldi counters with a stiff right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Lassiter tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Grimaldi counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Grimaldi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Lassiter wants to stand and escape but Grimaldi is having none of it.

Grimaldi gets to his feet. Lassiter looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Lassiter misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nice takedown defense from Lassiter. No joy for Grimaldi on that attempt.
Horrible takedown by Grimaldi or perhaps it was just good defense by Lassiter which made him look bad.

Lassiter using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Grimaldi has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

and Grimaldi counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Lassiter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Grimaldi!
You get the feeling that Grimaldi really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Lassiter throws a strike there. Grimaldi manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.

Lassiter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Grimaldi's head.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lassiter thows a body shot but no joy.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Grimaldi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
