PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivo Reis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thade Mcreay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reis comes to the cage accompanied by Drop the wolrd. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ivo Reis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Thade Mcreay!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reis lands a nice shot to the body.
Reis's corner calls for a 1-2. Reis obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Mcreay shoots for a takedown but Reis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mcreay tries to clinch but Reis moves out of range.
Mcreay dives in and grabs Reis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reis pushes down on Mcreay's head and hops out.
Mcreay blocks a low kick nicely.
Mcreay tries to clinch up.
Mcreay shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Reis defends it nicely.
Ivo Reis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thade Mcreay.
Mcreay avoids a punch combination nicely.
Thade Mcreay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mcreay throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Reis's waist but Reis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mcreay off to one side.

Reis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Reis is stalling here. Mcreay is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Reis seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mcreay has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Mcreay thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reis wants to control but Mcreay postures up.

Reis is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mcreay asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Reis dodges the ground and pound from Mcreay.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mcreay tries for a kimura but Reis is defending well.
Mcreay has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Reis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mcreay was well out of range. Poor timing from Reis.

and Reis counters with a single leg into guard. Mcreay didn't expect that.

Reis gets to his feet - Mcreay follows without any prompting.

Mcreay gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Reis to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Reis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mcreay looking to hit a scissor sweep but Reis is one step ahead there.
Reis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Reis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mcreay is proving hard to escape from.

Mcreay looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Reis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Mcreay working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Reis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Reis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mcreay is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mcreay escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Reis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mcreay has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Reis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Reis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Reis controlling from the top position.

Reis stands up from Mcreay's guard - Reis perhaps looking for a knockout.
Reis thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mcreay gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Reis counters with a stiff right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

It looks like Thade Mcreay has been cut.

Mcreay doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Reis counters with a right hand to the body.

Reis darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Reis throws a good cross that connects.
Mcreay takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Reis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcreay was covering up waiting for the punch and Reis finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Reis wants to stand but Mcreay has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

and Reis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ivo Reis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thade Mcreay.
Mcreay is breathing heavily.
Mcreay takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Reis connects with a crisp jab.
Mcreay tries for a takedown but Reis circles away easily
and Reis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Reis dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Reis moves into range and clinches up with Mcreay.
Mcreay drops down looking for an ankle pick but Reis pulls his leg out and moves away.
Mcreay shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Reis shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mcreay is trying to defend but Reis finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Ivo Reis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Reis get's back to his feet.

Mcreay takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Reis darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Reis tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mcreay controls his leg.
Mcreay moves into full guard.
Mcreay is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mcreay drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Reis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Reis tries to land a front kick but Mcreay steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A looping hook to the body misses from Reis. Mcreay does a little dance to reset his feet.

Mcreay tries to work over Reis's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Reis jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Reis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mcreay wants to get back to full guard.

Reis stands up from half guard.
Reis is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mcreay can do to turn this around?
A right-left combo lands from Reis.
Reis lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Reis swinging wildly here.
Mcreay lands a jab to Reis's midsection.
Reis throws a series of punches but Mcreay moves out of range.
Mcreay is trying desperately to land a takedown but Reis is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Mcreay.

and Reis counters with a single leg into guard. Mcreay didn't expect that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mcreay has his foot on Reis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Reis works his way back into a safe position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Reis wants to stand but Mcreay has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Mcreay is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Reis defends well.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Reis scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

enabling Reis to counter with a crisp jab.
Mcreay looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Reis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Reis is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mcreay shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Reis's guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Mcreay postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Reis gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Reis lunges at Mcreay with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mcreay's hand.

and Reis counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ivo Reis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thade Mcreay.

Reis goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Mcreay takes one on the button.

Reis tests Mcreay's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Ivo Reis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Reis closes the distance and clinches.
Mcreay changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Reis fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Mcreay has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Mcreay is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Reis decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mcreay, up you get!

and Reis counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mcreay thinking.

Mcreay doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Mcreay shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Mcreay is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Reis has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Reis!
