Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Caldwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Borris Khalidov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shane Caldwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Borris Khalidov!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caldwin slaps away a takedown attempt from Khalidov, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Khalidov circles away from the clinch attempt.

Khalidov shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Khalidov misses with a head shot. Caldwin uses the momentum to regain guard.
Khalidov with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Khalidov cracks Caldwin with a solid left hand.
Khalidov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Khalidov decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Caldwin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Shane Caldwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Caldwin doesn't manage to clinch there - Khalidov circles away.

Caldwin tries to clinch but Khalidov is having none of it.

It looks like Borris Khalidov has been cut.

Caldwin throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Khalidov blocks it with crossed arms.

Khalidov lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Khalidov wants to take a breather but Caldwin is having none of it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Khalidov connects with a nice short shot to Caldwin's temple.

Khalidov takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Khalidov stands up and beckons Caldwin to join him on the feet.

Khalidov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Caldwin wants to get back to his feet but Khalidov passes into half guard.
Caldwin is breathing heavily.
Khalidov is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Khalidov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Caldwin keeps working.
Khalidov is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Khalidov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Khalidov is working for a submission of some sort.
Khalidov prevents Caldwin from standing back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Khalidov is keen to just control but Caldwin is a slippery customer.
Khalidov is looking to stall here but Caldwin recovers full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

so Khalidov counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Khalidov wants to free his trapped foot but Caldwin is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Caldwin parries the strikes from Khalidov easily there. Khalidov is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Caldwin to escape.

and Khalidov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Khalidov gets to his feet. Caldwin looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Khalidov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Khalidov shoots in and bounces Caldwin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Borris Khalidov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Khalidov drives through and clinches with Caldwin against the cage.

Khalidov turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Khalidov manages to end up in side control.

and Khalidov counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Caldwin's guard now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
