Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Abbott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Smoke! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abbott fails to land the takedown. A head kick misses from Abbott. David Abbott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smoke dives in and grabs Abbott's left leg, looking for a takedown. Abbott pushes down on Smoke's head and hops out. Abbott gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Smoke counters by moving into the clinch. Smoke creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Abbott stalling against the cage.
Abbott blocks the elbow strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smoke lands a nice elbow.
It looks like David Abbott has been cut. Abbott with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Smoke is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Smoke gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Abbott. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smoke lands a damaging elbow. Abbott is trying to stall.

Abbott tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Smoke counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smoke. Smoke creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Abbott's defenses. Abbott jumps guard but Smoke stands there with Abbott around his waist. Abbott gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Abbott misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Smoke.
Smoke stops a takedown attempt from Abbott.
Smoke lands an elbow inside that Abbott shrugs off. Smoke is pushing Abbott up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Abbott tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Smoke smiles and moves away.
Abbott closes the distance looking to clinch so Smoke counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Abbott is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smoke is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smoke decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Abbott, up you get! Abbott tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Smoke counters by moving into the clinch. Abbott fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Smoke connects with a nasty looking knee right to Abbott's face.
Abbott tries to score a body lock takedown but Smoke shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Abbott jumps guard but Smoke stands there with Abbott around his waist. Abbott gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Abbott wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Smoke has him pressed against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice elbow from Smoke. Abbott misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Smoke.

David Abbott's cut is getting worse. Abbott tries to pull guard but Smoke holds him up against the cage and eventually Abbott drops back down to his feet.
Smoke lands an elbow that stopped Abbott in his tracks for a moment. Smoke connects with a nasty looking knee right to Abbott's face.

Johnny Smoke dominated that round. The cut man is working on David Abbott's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Smoke fails in his attempt to clinch. Abbott doesn't succeed with the takedown and Smoke counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Abbott wants a takedown.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at David Abbott's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
