Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kamaneto Funaki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daniel Korn! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Korn stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Korn wants it to stay on the feet. Funaki fails with the takedown. Korn shoots and misses and Funaki counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Funaki. Funaki looking to pass the guard. Funaki drops back looking for a leg! Korn is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Korn manages to kick Funaki off! Funaki jumps back into Korn's guard. Funaki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Funaki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Funaki has gone for a leg lock! Korn slips out almost immediately though and dives into Funaki's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Korn trying to control the position from guard on top but Funaki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Korn looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Korn throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Korn wants to control from the top but Funaki keeps moving.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Funaki looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's six minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Korn wants to stand but Funaki is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Korn must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Korn is looking to work some ground and pound but Funaki has wrist control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kamaneto Funaki dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Korn gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Funaki counters with a nice double leg into side control. Korn won't be happy with that. Funaki has hold of Korn's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Korn seems comfortable defending it but Funaki has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Korn is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Korn is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Funaki couldn't care less - he's delighted!
