Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simon Standa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Pheonix! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Kavanagh and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pheonix moves in looking to clinch but Standa pushes him off. Pheonix looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Standa displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pheonix throws out the jab. Pheonix swinging wildly here.
Standa fails in his attempt to clinch. Pheonix takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Pheonix shoots for a takedown but Standa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Standa misses with a takedown attempt and Pheonix counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Standa works his way to full guard. Good work. Standa striking from his own guard. Standa is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Pheonix keeps control of Standa as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Good body shot from Standa.

Standa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Pheonix takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Standa scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pheonix is looking to regain half guard here but Standa keeps moving and retains side control. Standa controlling the position. Standa fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Standa creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pheonix sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pheonix is not content to let Standa control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Standa in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Pheonix really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Standa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Standa is trying to get an arm triangle but Pheonix is defending well. Standa trying to control the position but Pheonix is working away. Pheonix is trying to control Standa's posture but Standa avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pheonix takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Standa gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Standa is trying to break the clinch but Pheonix has him pressed against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Standa's face as he tries to break the clinch. Standa is looking to break free of the clinch but Pheonix has double underhooks. A short right hand to the side of the head by Standa. Standa is trying to force a seperation but Pheonix has the dominant position. Standa has had enough of the clinch but Pheonix keeps him there for the moment. Pheonix breaks from the clinch.
Standa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Standa has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Pheonix regains guard immediately. Standa with a flurry of punches that miss. Pheonix keeping moving, preventing Standa from controlling successfully. Standa prevents Pheonix from getting back to his feet. Standa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Standa trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Pheonix wants to sweep here but Standa controlling him for the moment. Pheonix wants to stand but Standa is controlling the position. Standa wanted to stand there but Pheonix had control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Standa trying to control the position from guard on top but Pheonix is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Pheonix looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Standa! Pheonix dominating with strikes here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pheonix landing shots from mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Standa is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Pheonix prevents Standa from getting the reversal. Pheonix lands a big elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Paul Pheonix will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Pheonix throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Standa works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Standa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Pheonix fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Pheonix shoots in for a takedown but Standa shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Standa displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pheonix. Standa slaps away a takedown attempt from Pheonix, before circling back to the center of the mat. Standa lands with an overhand left. Standa fails to land with a series of punches.
Pheonix shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pheonix showed some decent athleticism there. Standa blocking the ground and pound attempt from Pheonix.
And that's the end of the fight! Paul Pheonix comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Pheonix has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
