PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Robert Tribbett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Booze Hound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robert Tribbett had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Tribbett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Booze Hound!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hound avoids the head kick by Tribbett.
Tribbett tries to clinch but Hound is having none of it.

Hound forces Tribbett back against the cage and clinches.
Tribbett drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hound dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Hound pulls guard.
Tribbett with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tribbett prevents Hound from getting back to his feet.

Tribbett drops back looking for a leg! Hound is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hound manages to kick Tribbett off! Tribbett jumps back into Hound's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Hound shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hound was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Tribbett is breathing heavily.

Hound is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tribbett can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Hound really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tribbett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hound seems to be working for a kimura but Tribbett defends the submission attempt.

Hound is keen to just control but Tribbett is a slippery customer.

Hound tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tribbett knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Hound wants to take a breather but Tribbett is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Hound closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hound lands in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Booze Hound dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Hound fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tribbett sprawls well initially but Hound persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hound patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
You can see the frustration on Tribbett's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Hound is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Hound gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Hound gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Hound apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Booze Hound showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hound escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tribbett gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Booze Hound comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hound has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
