PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malcolm Wilkerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emer Hoste (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Malcolm Wilkerson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Hoste, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Hoste scores with a takedown into Wilkerson's guard.
Hoste controls from within his opponent's guard.
Hoste pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wilkerson is keeping the position for now.
Hoste postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wilkerson wants to get back to his feet but Hoste is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wilkerson is breathing heavily.
Hoste working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Hoste stands up from Wilkerson's guard - Hoste perhaps looking for a knockout.
Wilkerson throws a sloppy head kick and Hoste moves out of range easily.
Wilkerson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Hoste decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hoste working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Well, if Hoste is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight� I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza� Yum. Can't wait.
Hoste not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hoste has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wilkerson is looking to get back to is feet but Hoste passes into side control.
Wilkerson is pushing Hoste's head away, looking to escape. Hoste manages to hold on to the position though.

Hoste is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wilkerson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Hoste has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Hoste thows a body shot but no joy.
Wilkerson throws a head kick that half lands.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hoste scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Hoste stands up.

Hoste closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hoste lands in his opponent's guard.
Hoste seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Hoste gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Hoste has closed the distance and engaged Wilkerson in a clinch.
Wilkerson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hoste is trying to break the clinch but Wilkerson has him pressed against the cage.

Hoste has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Wilkerson uses from the top position.
Hoste seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Emer Hoste dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wilkerson stuffs the takedown attempt from Hoste. Hoste gets slowly back to his feet.

Hoste shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hoste was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
A nice elbow there by Hoste.

Hoste working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Wilkerson turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Hoste off and cradles Wilkerson's limp body as Hoste celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Emer Hoste!
