Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maxwell The Priest (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Friar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob Friar struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 206.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Maxwell The Priest could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Bob Friar's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Friar darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Friar sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. The Priest defending well though. Friar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Friar is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The Priest is not content to let Friar control the position. Friar not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Friar is looking for a kimura but The Priest is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Friar to get the leverage. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Friar wants to pass the guard but The Priest is defending well. Friar looks to land a strike but The Priest avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Friar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Friar shoots in but The Priest avoids the takedown attempt easily. The Priest misses with a takedown attempt and Friar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. The Priest doesn't succeed with the takedown and Friar counters with a takedown into side control. Friar wants to stand but The Priest has his arm trapped. Friar working the head and body with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The Priest is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Friar's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Friar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Friar looks gassed! Friar thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed The Priest's head. Friar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Friar looks to land a strike but The Priest avoids it nicely and regains full guard. The Priest is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Friar wants to get back to his feet.
The Priest is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Friar is just riding it out for now. The Priest eventually gives up the hold. The Priest is working for a kimura but Friar is defending it quite comfortably.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Friar tries to roll over but The Priest keeps him under control. The Priest is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bob Friar dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
The Priest tries for a takedown but Friar circles away easily and Friar counters with a shoot takedown. The Priest fights it but they end up in guard. Friar throws a strike but The Priest rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Friar is pulling down on The Priest's head. It's preventing any offense from The Priest, at least for the moment. The Priest is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Friar is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Friar has escaped and now he's on top! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Priest wants to sweep but no luck. Friar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Friar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as The Priest works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Friar throws and elbow that misses. The Priest uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Friar's guard. Nice move by The Priest! The Priest thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The Priest prevents Friar from getting back to his feet. The Priest being controlled here momentarily. The Priest stops Friar from standing up. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Friar can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Priest tries to free his leg and advance position but Friar is retaining full guard. Friar wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Friar closes the distance and clinches up with The Priest, looking for a takedown. Friar pushes The Priest against the ropes but The Priest circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Bob Friar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Friar fails with an attempt to clinch.
Friar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and The Priest counters with a shoot takedown. Friar fights it but they end up in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The Priest passes into half guard. The Priest wants to pass to mount but Friar is defending the position. Friar is looking for a sweep. The Priest is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Bob Friar will probably get the nod - 10:9. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

The Priest trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Friar is wriggling around but The Priest manages to pass to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Friar tries to regain full guard. Instead though, The Priest has advanced to mount. Uh oh. The Priest is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Friar to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Friar shrugs it off. Friar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The Priest. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Priest fails to advance to Friar's back. Friar holds on, trying desperately to control. The Priest jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Friar manages to avoid the submission attempt. Friar is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked The Priest off and has taken his back!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Friar biding his time, controlling The Priest. Bob Friar has got the better of the ground game so far. The Priest grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The Priest grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. Friar lands punches and elbows.
And that's the end of the fight! Bob Friar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Friar winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
