Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joey Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonathan Coleman! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones fails with a takedown attempt. Coleman drives through with a takedown into guard. Coleman wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Jones looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Jones seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Coleman trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Coleman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jones keeping full guard, as Coleman tries to pass.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Coleman throws a body punch but Jones moves out of range. Coleman takes a jab right on the kisser.
It looks like Jonathan Coleman has been cut. Coleman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A big right from Coleman misses. Coleman fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Coleman shoots and misses and Jones counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Joey Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathan Coleman. Coleman looks gassed! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jones stands up from half guard. Jonathan Coleman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Coleman fails with the takedown and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. Coleman won't be happy with that. Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Coleman on the ground. Jones has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. A punch combination from Jones misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Coleman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. A combination from Jones does no damage. Jones scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Jones tries for a kimura but Coleman is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A lull in the action here as Jones stalls from top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Coleman prevents Jones from moving into mount. Jones has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Jones scores with a three punch combo!
Coleman doesn't succeed with the takedown and Jones counters with a nice double leg into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Coleman is trying to control the position but Jones postures up. Jones decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Coleman, up you get! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Coleman shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jones leaves Coleman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A head kick misses from Jones. Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Joey Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathan Coleman. Jones lands with a straight right. Coleman didn't see that one coming. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Coleman keeps the fight on the outside. Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Coleman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Coleman to the mat! Coleman manages to get full guard. Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Jones gets to his feet. Coleman looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Jones misses with a head kick.
Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Jones content just to control the position here. Coleman wants to control but Jones is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jones cracks Coleman with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Jones circles away from the clinch attempt and Jones counters with a series of strikes. Coleman will be more careful next time no doubt. Coleman doesn't succeed with the takedown and Jones counters with a one-two to the body. Jones gets the takedown into side control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joey Jones. Jones comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Coleman tries to keep at a distance but Jones has taken the fight into the clinch. Jones is trying to force a seperation but Coleman has the dominant position. Jones tries to pull guard but Coleman holds him up against the cage and eventually Jones drops back down to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jones manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones tries to bum rush Coleman with a series of wild strikes but Coleman uses good footwork to avoid the assault. A chopping leg kick lands by Jones. Coleman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Coleman persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing. A lazy left from Jones finds it's target. Coleman blocks a head kick by Jones.
Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Coleman which made him look bad. Coleman tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily and Jones counters with a two punch combo. Joey Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathan Coleman. Jones blocks a leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones throws a head kick but Coleman moves out of range.
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Coleman sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Coleman shoots and misses and Jones counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Coleman! Jones tries to control but Coleman wriggling away. Coleman is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Coleman can do to turn this around? Coleman is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jones throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Coleman has his hands clasped together but Jones breaks the hold and Coleman is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Jones!
