Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Sotiropoulos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Lee! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Lee does no damage. A big left from Lee misses. Bruce Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sotiropoulos tries to clinch there but Lee circles away.
Sotiropoulos moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Lee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sotiropoulos circles away quickly and effectively. Some wild striking there from Lee.
The fighters circle momentarily. Lee darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Lee takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Excellent takedown into side control there by Sotiropoulos. Sotiropoulos wants to control but Lee is keeping him busy. Sotiropoulos looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lee tries to buck Sotiropoulos off but Sotiropoulos is having none of it. Lee is not content to let Sotiropoulos control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee is looking for a sweep. Sotiropoulos tries for a kimura but Lee is defending well. Lee wants to control but Sotiropoulos postures up. That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Lee is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Sotiropoulos advances nicely into full mount. Lee tries to reverse the position but Sotiropoulos maintains control. Lee's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Lee looks gassed! Sotiropoulos controlling his opponent. Sotiropoulos working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Lee turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Sotiropoulos off and cradles Lee's limp body as Sotiropoulos celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). George Sotiropoulos!
