7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mauro Mateus dos Santos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jon Jones! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jones is defended easily by dos Santos. Jones avoids the body shot from dos Santos.
Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jones dives in and grabs dos Santos's left leg, looking for a takedown. dos Santos pushes down on Jones's head and hops out. No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones. Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with dos Santos but dos Santos pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's five minutes gone in the round. dos Santos gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Jones preventing the sweep. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but dos Santos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. dos Santos swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Jones is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Jones has gone for a leg lock! dos Santos slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jones's guard.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. dos Santos wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard. Jones throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. dos Santos tries to stand but Jones is controlling from the bottom.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jones has his foot on dos Santos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. dos Santos works his way back into a safe position though. dos Santos has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy. Jones is trying to keep dos Santos in close.
dos Santos might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. dos Santos got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, dos Santos has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted. Jones looks gassed! Jones controls dos Santos momentarily but dos Santos frees himself. dos Santos would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Jones looking for a sweep. Not yet Jones, not yet. Jones is trying to control the position but dos Santos postures up. dos Santos wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jones takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mauro Mateus dos Santos will probably get the nod. That's time! dos Santos's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in dos Santos's guard.

Jones wants to control from the top but dos Santos keeps moving. Jones pushes down on dos Santos's leg and manages to get into half guard. dos Santos is not content to let Jones control the position. dos Santos tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Jones has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Jones working for a submission but dos Santos is keeping him at bay.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jones looking for a guillotine from mount but dos Santos is having none of it. Jones has control of dos Santos's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and dos Santos regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Jones is breathing heavily.
That's six minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Jones tries to control but dos Santos wriggling away. Jones is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but dos Santos is surviving well by controlling Jones's body position as best he can. Jones is going oldschool here, as he tries to force dos Santos to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so dos Santos shrugs it off. Mauro Mateus dos Santos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Jones jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but dos Santos manages to avoid the submission attempt. dos Santos keeps Jones under control for a moment. dos Santos on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if dos Santos tries to get out of the position. dos Santos is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Not really close to a finish though. Jon Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jones tries for a kimura but dos Santos is defending well. dos Santos is looking to regain half guard here but Jones keeps moving and retains side control.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Jones wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by dos Santos, who protects the arm well. dos Santos is looking for a sweep. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. dos Santos throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jon Jones. I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
