The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Mayoffer.
Mayoffer loads up on a big right hand but Silva slips the punch.
Silva wants to clinch.
Jose Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Silva clinches with his opponent.
Silva works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Silva gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

It looks like Igor Mayoffer has been cut.
Silva has Mayoffer pressed against the cage.
Mayoffer is pushing Silva up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Silva lands a damaging elbow.
Mayoffer can't get the takedown.
Silva lands an elbow that stopped Mayoffer in his tracks for a moment.
Silva comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Still in the clinch, Silva scores with a nice short uppercut.
Mayoffer throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Silva lands a nice elbow.
Mayoffer has Silva pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Silva manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Silva lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Mayoffer has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Silva is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Jose Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Igor Mayoffer.
Silva lands an elbow inside that Mayoffer shrugs off.

That has opened up Igor Mayoffer's cut even more.
Mayoffer goes for a takedown in the clinch but Silva prevents it.

The cut above Igor Mayoffer's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Silva gets through Mayoffer's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Silva dips a shoulder and cracks Mayoffer with a mighty uppercut! Mayoffer falls back against the cage and Silva unloads with a barrage of strikes! Mayoffer is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Silva screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
