Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Trey Tamura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael James!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James gets a takedown into half guard.
Tamura looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
James moves nicely into side control.
James advances nicely into full mount.

James looking for a guillotine from mount but Tamura is having none of it.

James stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Tamura feints and then cracks James's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow James down.

James decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Tamura wants to control but James is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James tries to pass to full mount but Tamura defends it.
Tamura gets back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tamura can't keep his opponent in guard - James advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

James is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tamura defends it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tamura tries to roll over but James keeps him under control.
Tamura wants to get back to his feet.

James is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

James is looking for a kimura but Tamura is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for James to get the leverage.
Tamura preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

James wants to pass to mount but Tamura is defending the position.

James is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

James is working for a kimura but Tamura is defending it quite comfortably.

James in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Tamura tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from James!
