Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tomas Veloso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva has chosen libertade pra dentro da cabeca as his entrance music. Tomas Veloso could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Wanderlei Silva's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tomas Veloso! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wanderlei Silva! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Veloso dives in and grabs Silva's left leg, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes down on Veloso's head and hops out. Veloso shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silva as he jumps to the side. Silva shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Veloso counters with a single leg into guard. Silva didn't expect that.
Veloso got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Veloso has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva is trying to keep Veloso in close.
Silva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Veloso defends it easily. Veloso trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom. Veloso is really struggling to control Silva but he's trying to hold on to the position. Veloso won't allow Silva to get back to his feet.
 That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Veloso gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Silva looks gassed! Veloso distracts Silva with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Veloso slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Veloso controlling the position from side mount.
Veloso decides to stand back up. Veloso steps back and let's Silva get back to his feet. Silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Veloso counters with a one-two to the body.
Veloso bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Silva is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
 That's two minutes gone in the round.
Veloso stands up. Silva tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Veloso decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silva's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Veloso wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.
Silva is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Veloso is aware though and is defending well.

Veloso is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Veloso stands up from guard. Let's bang! Veloso misses with a takedown attempt - Silva sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tomas Veloso. That's going to take a lot out of him. Silva wants to clinch but Veloso slips to the side
and Veloso counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Silva trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Veloso manages to pass to mount!
Veloso stands up from mount. Strange move. Silva throws a sloppy head kick and Veloso moves out of range easily. Silva wants to clinch. Silva shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
so Veloso counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Silva tries to strike from the bottom.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Silva throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Veloso can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Veloso pushing down on Silva's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Veloso stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Silva with a poor takedown and Veloso counters with a straight right hand.
Veloso shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Silva is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Veloso in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

and Veloso counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Veloso.

Veloso is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Silva trying to hold on to Veloso's head to control him but Veloso postures up.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Veloso wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Veloso accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Veloso trying to stand up but can't free himself from Silva's guard.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Veloso is one step ahead there.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Silva throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Veloso trying to control from half guard but Silva is working away. Veloso content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Veloso is keen to just control but Silva is a slippery customer. Veloso is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Tomas Veloso overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Veloso performing his best blanket impression for a moment. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Tomas Veloso will probably get the nod. That's time! Veloso's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Silva goes for an armbar but Veloso turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Veloso. Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Silva keeping moving, preventing Veloso from controlling successfully. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tomas Veloso. Silva stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Silva wants it to stay on the feet. Silva misses with a takedown
and Veloso counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Veloso. Silva not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Silva throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Veloso escapes and throws Silva's legs to the side, diving into side control! Veloso controls the position from side control. Silva sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva keeps control of the position for the meantime. Silva is looking to improve his position.
Veloso is trying to control the action in half guard but Silva is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Silva gets back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Veloso's guard. Veloso lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Silva! Silva working to try and regain half guard.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Veloso looking to control but Silva is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Veloso throws some wild stikes that Silva manages to avoid easily.
Veloso fails to move to back control. Silva has given up his back here.
Silva is trying to break free.
Silva rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Silva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
 The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Veloso clinches. Veloso tries to break the clinch but Silva is controlling the position.
Silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Veloso shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Silva manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Veloso stands and steps away. Silva gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Silva darts in and clinches Veloso up against the cage.
Silva ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Silva no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Wanderlei Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tomas Veloso is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Silva trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! Tomas Veloso showed his dominance in that final round. Well Veloso has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
