Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kendall Clarke! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Clarke slips a jab from Johnson. Clarke fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Kendall Clarke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Johnson swinging wildly here.
Clarke misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Johnson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Clarke was well out of range. Poor timing from Johnson. Johnson lands with a hook. Clarke tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Clarke lands a jab-cross combination. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Clarke throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Johnson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Johnson is breathing heavily. Johnson moves into range and connects with a jab. Johnson throws the left hand but Clarke avoids the punch easily. Johnson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Clarke dives in and grabs Johnson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes down on Clarke's head and hops out. Clarke moves into range and clinches up with Johnson. Clarke breaks the clinch.
Clarke forces Johnson back against the cage and clinches. Clarke's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Clarke shoots for a takedown but Johnson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Scott Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kendall Clarke. Johnson looks to land a combination. Clarke sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Some bone on bone action there as Johnson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Clarke closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Clarke misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Clarke ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Johnson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Clarke finds it's way round the side to connect with Johnson's head. Johnson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Clarke with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Johnson to score with a decent uppercut. Nice takedown defense from Johnson. No joy for Clarke on that attempt. Johnson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Clarke manages to avoid it. Clarke avoids the body shot from Johnson.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Clarke is defended easily by Johnson. Clarke throws an overhand right that lands on Johnson's shoulder, as Johnson tries to avoid the shot. A punch combination from Clarke misses. Clarke closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away. Johnson punishes Clarke's body with a nice straight punch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Clarke blocks a jab. Clarke tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Clarke misses with a body shot
and Johnson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Johnson lands a glancing blow to the side of Clarke's head. Clarke throws a chopping leg kick but Johnson manages to avoid taking any serious damage. A punch combination from Johnson misses. Clarke will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Johnson cracks Clarke with a good jab. Johnson misses with a straight right. Johnson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Clarke shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Johnson counters with a nice uppercut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Clarke throws a leg kick but Johnson checks it. Clarke closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Clarke pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Clarke with a lazy takedown attempt and Johnson counters with a stiff right hand. Donk. Johnson catches Clarke right on the button with a cross. Johnson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Clarke's hands. Clarke is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Clarke is rocked! Johnson rushes Clarke with punches - Clarke moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Clarke goes down! Johnson follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Scott Johnson!
