Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan St Pierre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Scott Kent! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! St Pierre rushes Kent and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Kent looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Kent has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. St Pierre avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. St Pierre has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. St Pierre jumps guard.
St Pierre is trying to keep Kent in close.
Kent is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Kent controlling from the top position. St Pierre is pulling down on Kent's head. It's preventing any offense from Kent, at least for the moment. St Pierre tries to land a sweep but no joy. St Pierre looking to control.
St Pierre seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. St Pierre has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dan St Pierre. St Pierre stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Kent stuffs the takedown attempt from St Pierre. St Pierre gets slowly back to his feet. St Pierre gets the takedown into side control. Kent tries to bench press St Pierre off him but St Pierre keeps the position. St Pierre scoring with punches from side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kent can do anything to dispel that myth. St Pierre tries for a kimura but Kent is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. St Pierre is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kent has escaped the position, nice work there. St Pierre trying to control the action but Kent is working from the bottom. St Pierre is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kent is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. St Pierre is staying tight to Kent's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's three minutes gone in the round. St Pierre scores with punches from side control. St Pierre cracks Kent with a big elbow. St Pierre remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. St Pierre lands an elbow. Kent stops St Pierre from passing to mount. St Pierre stands up and beckons Kent to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. St Pierre shoots in for a double leg but Kent sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. St Pierre tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Kent is able to avoid easily. St Pierre will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan St Pierre. That's going to take a lot out of him. St Pierre gets a clinch. Kent tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kent blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. The referee calls for St Pierre to work.
St Pierre's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. St Pierre lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kent backs up against the cage.
St Pierre looking for a takedown here - he's got it. St Pierre trying to control the position from guard on top but Kent is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan St Pierre dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
St Pierre shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. St Pierre slows the pace down in half guard. St Pierre takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Kent tries to roll over but St Pierre keeps him under control. Kent is breathing heavily. St Pierre is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
That's one minute gone in the round. St Pierre seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kent does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. St Pierre is pressing down on Kent's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kent is holding on for now. St Pierre tries to stand but his arm is trapped. St Pierre seems to be looking for submissions.
St Pierre is working for a kimura but Kent is defending it quite comfortably.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. St Pierre closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Kent is pressed up against the cage. St Pierre has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kent down to the mat. Kent avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. St Pierre with a body punch. A glancing blow. St Pierre drives through and clinches with Kent against the cage.

St Pierre is trying to break the clinch but Kent has him pressed against the cage. St Pierre has picked Kent up - he's going for a ride! St Pierre dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. St Pierre tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kent knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. St Pierre slips a nice elbow through Kent's hands, connecting with Kent's forehead. St Pierre is pressing down on Kent's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kent is holding on for now. St Pierre not doing much here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. St Pierre is trying to control the action in half guard but Kent is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. St Pierre is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
St Pierre thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kent's head.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. St Pierre shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kent pinned against the cage. Kent gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan St Pierre. That's going to take a lot out of him. St Pierre rushes Kent and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Kent stops a takedown attempt from St Pierre.
St Pierre makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. St Pierre wants to break free but Kent has control.
St Pierre has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Kent is trying to keep an underhook but St Pierre manages to get the takedown into half guard. St Pierre stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. St Pierre moves into range and clinches up with Kent. St Pierre pressing his opponent against the cage. Dan St Pierre dominated that second round. That's time! St Pierre's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
St Pierre is looking to clinch but Kent is avoiding it.
St Pierre shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Dan St Pierre overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kent actively working from the bottom here. St Pierre perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. St Pierre wants to pass the guard but Kent is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. St Pierre with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kent is not content to let St Pierre control the position. Kent takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. St Pierre is figuring out what he wants to do next. St Pierre is trying to control. Kent wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dan St Pierre. St Pierre closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kent to the mat! Kent manages to get full guard. St Pierre throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kent works some decent striking defense from the bottom. St Pierre drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and St Pierre jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. St Pierre stands up over Kent, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Kent has hold of St Pierre's hands but St Pierre slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Kent is staying active underneath St Pierre, who seems content to just control the action from this position. St Pierre keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. St Pierre trying to pass the guard but Kent defending well. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dan St Pierre. St Pierre darts in and clinches Kent up against the cage. St Pierre softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. St Pierre breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. St Pierre gets a clinch. St Pierre breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
St Pierre shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kent manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. St Pierre is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kent can do to turn this around? St Pierre wants to control from the top but Kent keeps moving. St Pierre trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kent's guard. St Pierre postures up in Kent's guard and throws a big left but Kent blocks it.
And that's the end of the fight! Dan St Pierre showed his dominance in that final round. Well St Pierre has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
