0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Travis Mercer! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones lands a two punch combo.
It looks like Travis Mercer has been cut. Jones swinging wildly here.
Mercer shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily. Mercer avoids the body shot from Jones.
Nice sprawl there from Jones as Mercer shoots in. Jones throws a series of punches but Mercer avoids them all with ease. Jones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Jones throws a right hand that Mercer ducks under and follows up with a left that Mercer also avoids with ease. Jones scores with a jab to the body. Jim Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mercer avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones throws a head kick that misses. Mercer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jones circles away. Jim Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Travis Mercer. Jones misses with a two punch combination.
Jones walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Jones looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mercer looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mercer lands a nice short elbow. Mercer landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Mercer seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Mercer slips a nice elbow through Jones's hands, connecting with Jones's forehead.

He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Jones is breathing heavily. Jones bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mercer can do anything to dispel that myth. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jones missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Jones throws a big right hand that misses. Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jones throwing strikes but missing. Mercer looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mercer keeping full guard, as Jones tries to pass.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Jones misses with a head kick.
Mercer wants to land a leg kick but Jones is out of range. Jones tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mercer was well out of range. Poor timing from Jones. Jones throws a right and a left that both miss. Decent striking displayed by Mercer there. Jones looks to land a body kick but Mercer moved away. Mercer drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mercer forces his way into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mercer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jones's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Mercer wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Mercer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mercer postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it. Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Mercer stopping the sweep attempt from Jones. Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mercer defends it easily. Mercer cracks Jones with a solid left hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mercer is working Jones over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mercer trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mercer working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy. Jones working for a triangle but Mercer defends it easily.
Mercer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mercer has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted. Mercer slips nicely into half guard. Mercer throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Jones is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mercer takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Jones is refusing to be controlled, as Mercer sits in half guard. Mercer is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Mercer working Jones over with strikes. Mercer missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Mercer wants to free his trapped foot but Jones is holding on for dear life with his legs. Jones is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mercer looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jones with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Mercer is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Travis Mercer has got the better of the ground game so far. Mercer missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Mercer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Jones looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Jones tries to roll over but Mercer keeps him under control. Mercer is thwarting Jones's attempts to control the position. That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Mercer on that attempt. Jim Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Travis Mercer. Jones misses with a wild combination.

Travis Mercer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Travis Mercer's cut. That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

and Mercer counters with a nice double leg into guard. Mercer thows a big elbow that misses. Mercer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard. Mercer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jones postures up in Mercer's guard and throws a big left but Mercer blocks it. Jones throws a strike but Mercer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mercer's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mercer throwing strikes but missing. Mercer lands a couple of elbows. Jones has momentary wrist control but Mercer slips an elbow through the middle. Mercer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mercer throws a big right hand that misses.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mercer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mercer with a flurry of punches that miss. Mercer wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Mercer keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jones's head. Mercer content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Jones is adopting a defensive guard. Mercer is in close to Jones's body, working some short punches and elbows.
And that's the end of the fight! Travis Mercer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Mercer winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
