Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kushin Takahashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ronald Kray!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Takahashi shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Takahashi is taking a breather. Kray says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Takahashi is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kray has managed to free his arm - good work.

Takahashi wants to work for an arm triangle but Kray is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Takahashi seems to be looking for submissions.
Kray controlling the position for now.

Takahashi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kray defends it easily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Takahashi is looking for a triangle but Kray pushes his legs off easily.

Kray might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Takahashi kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Takahashi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kray doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kray manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kray really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Takahashi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Takahashi is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kray wants to get back to his feet but Takahashi is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Takahashi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kray is pressing down on Takahashi's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ronald Kray showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Takahashi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kray gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kray must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kray chips away with some ground and pound.

Well Takahashi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
