Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ribeiro tries to avoid it but Lopez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ribeiro to the ground. Ribeiro escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ribeiro fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lopez tries for a takedown but Ribeiro sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lopez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ribeiro was covering up waiting for the punch and Lopez finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Ribeiro throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Lopez is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Ribeiro is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ribeiro doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lopez advances to half guard.
Ribeiro is looking to improve his position.
Lopez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ribeiro does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Lopez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ribeiro napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee asks Lopez politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lopez prefers to stall for the moment though.
Ribeiro striking from the bottom but nothing landed.

Ribeiro misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Ribeiro throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Lopez stands up.
Ribeiro tries to clinch up but Lopez circles away and keeps his distance.
Ribeiro misses with a takedown attempt
and Lopez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lopez.
Ribeiro will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Lopez decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Lopez forces Ribeiro back against the cage and clinches.
Ribeiro fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ribeiro is breathing heavily.
Ribeiro tries to break the clinch but Lopez is controlling the position.
Ribeiro goes for a takedown in the clinch but Lopez prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thiago Ribeiro. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lopez has Ribeiro pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ribeiro manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Ribeiro wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Ribeiro fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ribeiro tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lopez smiles and moves away.
Ribeiro looks to clinch
and Lopez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ribeiro won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ribeiro is trying to escape the position but Lopez is controlling the position.
Ribeiro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lopez on the ground.

Lopez has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Ribeiro is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Lopez yanks on the arm and Ribeiro is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Lopez.
