Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Justin James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raphael Ottoni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Justin James!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raphael Ottoni!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ottoni dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on James. That did some damage!
Ottoni shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts James as he jumps to the side.
A looping hook to the body misses from James. Ottoni does a little dance to reset his feet.
James avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A punch combination from Ottoni misses.
James throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ottoni fails with a takedown attempt.
Ottoni takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Ottoni swinging wildly here.
Ottoni takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Ottoni shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in James's guard.
Ottoni postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ottoni stands and steps away. James gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ottoni looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Justin James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raphael Ottoni.
Ottoni throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

James shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
James wants to stand up but Ottoni is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ottoni pushes James off looking to stand but James dives back in and keeps control.
Ottoni is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Ottoni tries to hold on but James postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

James stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Ottoni looks to throw the jab but James is out of range.
James lands a nice looking body kick.
James connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
James plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Ottoni shoots for a double leg takedown but James sprawls well. He's pushed Ottoni's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A nice leg kick lands there from James.
James keeps Ottoni at a distance using the push kick.
Nice body kick from James.
James explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ottoni tries to clinch but James moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ottoni looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ottoni fails with the takedown
and James counters with a right hand to the body.

Ottoni clinches.

Ottoni breaks from the clinch.
Raphael Ottoni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ottoni misses with a takedown attempt
and James counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Ottoni looks gassed!
Ottoni throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and James counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Ottoni is lucky that one didn't land flush.
James lands a nice hook to Ottoni's body. Ottoni takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
James gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Ottoni counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in James's guard now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ottoni wants to get up but he can't break James's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Justin James will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



James closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ottoni to the mat! Ottoni manages to get full guard.
James slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
James trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ottoni's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ottoni manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's one minute gone in the round.
James working to try and regain half guard.
Ottoni looking to control but James is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Ottoni prevents James from getting the reversal.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ottoni with shots to the head and body - James looks very uncomfortable down there.
Ottoni sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
A nice elbow there by Ottoni.

Ottoni is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Ottoni extends the arm and James is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Raphael Ottoni!
