Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaius Caesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Jon James has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gaius Caesar! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.

Caesar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says James as he avoids it easily. James misses with a looping left. Caesar throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Caesar is looking to clinch. Caesar looks for a takedown but James sprawls well. James lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Gaius Caesar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Caesar tries a head kick but it misses.
James swings for the body but Caesar moves out of range.
James is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Caesar. The fighters circling - James throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Caesar shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Jon James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gaius Caesar.
Caesar has closed the distance and engaged James in a clinch.
Caesar tries for a takedown but James manages to get underhooks.
Caesar fails to pull guard.
Caesar drops to a knee looking for a takedown but James gets the underhooks and prevents it.
James lands with a short shot to the head. A head punch blocked on the inside by Caesar.

Caesar tightens his grip and picks James up, before dumping him to the ground. James manages to land in guard. Caesar is fighting to break James's control of his arms but James is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. James looking to hit a scissor sweep but Caesar is one step ahead there. Caesar looking to pass the guard. Caesar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Caesar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Caesar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. James is keeping the position for now. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! James wants to sweep here but Caesar controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Caesar prevents James from getting back to his feet.

James punishes Caesar's body with a nice straight punch. Caesar looks gassed! Caesar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as James sprawls well. James wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Caesar gets slowly back to his feet. Jab by James.

Caesar takes one on the chin but seems OK.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! James keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. James cracks Caesar with a right hand to the side of the head. Caesar moves in looking to clinch but James pushes him off. Caesar shoots in for a double leg but James sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
James cracks Caesar with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. James has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Caesar to stand back up!

Caesar is rocked! James misses with a wild body shot. James scores with a hook to the body. Caesar takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. James closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Caesar! James dives in looking to finish! Caesar is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jon James!
