Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Kramer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Buck Blaze! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blaze drops Kramer with a beautiful combination! Kramer stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Blaze is looking for the KO!
Kramer is rocked!
It looks like John Kramer has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kramer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Blaze looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Oh Kramer is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Blaze prevents Kramer from improving position. Kramer is working hard here to advance position. Kramer seems to have got his legs back now. Kramer trying to control the action but Blaze is working from the bottom. Blaze gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Blaze is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kramer thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Blaze tries to buck Kramer off but he can't manage it. Kramer punching from mount but Blaze doing a good job of avoiding damage. Kramer controlling his opponent. Blaze trying desperately to get to his feet.
Kramer fails to move to back control. Kramer scores with a couple of good head shots there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kramer seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Blaze is holding on tight.
Kramer looking to finish Blaze with some ground and pound. This is bad for Blaze! Kramer throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kramer goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Blaze is on top in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Blaze avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kramer wants to stand up but Blaze is controlling him. Blaze has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kramer is proving hard to escape from.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Blaze gets to his feet - Kramer follows without any prompting. Blaze thows a left - swing and a miss! Kramer throws a sloppy head kick and Blaze moves out of range easily. Blaze keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kramer lands with a nice body punch. Blaze looks gassed! Blaze throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kramer sees it coming and avoids it easily. Nice defenses there by Kramer. Blaze has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Blaze there as he acknowledges the shot. Kramer fails with a takedown attempt. Blaze loads up on a big right hand but Kramer slips the punch. Blaze misses with a double jab.
Kramer connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
It looks like Buck Blaze has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kramer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Blaze to the mat! Blaze manages to get full guard. Kramer controls from within his opponent's guard. Kramer wants to pass the guard but Blaze is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kramer throwing strikes but missing. Kramer throws and elbow that misses. Blaze uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kramer's guard. Nice move by Blaze! Kramer is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kramer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Blaze gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Kramer dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Kramer misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Blaze.
Blaze thows a body shot but no joy. Kramer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Blaze. Buck Blaze seems to be getting the better of the standup. Blaze looks to land a combination but Kramer avoids it well. Blaze looks to land a combination but Kramer avoids it well. Kramer closes the distance and clinches up with Blaze, looking for a takedown. Kramer pushes Blaze against the cage but Blaze circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Blaze rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kramer moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Kramer just misses with a punch to the body.
Blaze throws a hook but Kramer avoids it easily. Kramer shoots in but no luck this time. Blaze doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Kramer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Blaze sprawls well initially but Kramer persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Blaze really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kramer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kramer wants to pass to mount but Blaze is defending the position. Kramer passes to side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kramer advances nicely into full mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kramer throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Blaze because Kramer loaded up on that one. Kramer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Blaze is looking to escape. Kramer sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Kramer is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Blaze has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Blaze! Blaze wants to stand but Kramer has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Blaze stands up from guard. Let's bang! Blaze connects with a single shot there. Kramer showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Blaze.
Kramer shoots in and drives through. Blaze sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Kramer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kramer scores a takedown into full mount! Kramer landing strikes from the mount and Blaze is in trouble! Kramer goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Blaze turns into him and now he's in Kramer's guard.
Kramer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kramer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Blaze wants to get up but he can't break Kramer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Kramer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Blaze doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Kramer is tightening it up a little... Blaze has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Blaze reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Blaze taps out! nice BJJ there by Kramer!
