Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Berdo Haaasik! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bunson Turner! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Franklyn Lucas and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Turner moves into the clinch. Haaasik pushes Turner back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Haaasik goes for a takedown attempt but Turner pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Turner circles away from the clinch attempt.
Turner swings away with a leg kick that misses. Danga de danga de dang - Turner scores with a four punch combination! Turner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Haaasik moves away. Berdo Haaasik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Haaasik shoots for a takedown but Turner saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Haaasik tries to close the distance and clinch but Turner swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Turner leaves Haaasik with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Berdo Haaasik. That's going to take a lot out of him. Haaasik tries to clinch there but Turner circles away.
Turner shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Haaasik is trying to defend but Turner finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Turner content to control rather than advance. Turner is trying to control. Haaasik wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haaasik looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Haaasik actively working from the bottom here. Turner decides to stand and escape the position. Haaasik takes one to the chin there. Turner scores with a crisp jab that stopped Haaasik in his tracks. Turner drops Haaasik with a straight right hand, right on the button! Turner follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bunson Turner!
