0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bob Johnson! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Kimura lands a right hook to the body.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kimura as he jumps to the side. Kimura lands with a good body shot. Johnson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kimura swivels and escapes. Kimura changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Johnson fails with the takedown. Jun Kimura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Johnson. Kimura ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johnson moves away. and Kimura counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kimura loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Johnson is trying to maintain the position but Kimura is very close to passing his half guard. Johnson looks gassed! Kimura lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Kimura takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Johnson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kimura scores with a couple of nice shots. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kimura connects with a nice short shot to Johnson's temple. Kimura in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Johnson tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Kimura!
