Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniel LaRusso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Caio Gimenez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caio Gimenez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LaRusso fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Gimenez checks it well.
Gimenez is looking to clinch but LaRusso is avoiding it.
LaRusso swats away the attempt to clinch by Gimenez.
Gimenez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. LaRusso is trying to defend but Gimenez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

LaRusso chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Gimenez can pounce on him.

LaRusso wants to clinch up but Gimenez keeps it at a distance.
LaRusso fails with an attempt to clinch.

Gimenez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
LaRusso moves in looking to clinch but Gimenez pushes him off.

Horrible takedown by Gimenez or perhaps it was just good defense by LaRusso which made him look bad.
Gimenez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in LaRusso's guard.

and Gimenez counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Gimenez tightens his grip and picks LaRusso up, before dumping him to the ground. LaRusso manages to land in guard.
Gimenez won't allow LaRusso to get back to his feet.
Gimenez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gimenez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
LaRusso wants to stand and escape but Gimenez is having none of it.

and Gimenez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gimenez.
LaRusso utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gimenez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. LaRusso swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gimenez is standing up over LaRusso. LaRusso looks to escape but Gimenez dives into side control.
LaRusso dodges the ground and pound from Gimenez.
LaRusso is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gimenez is controlling him well.
LaRusso avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Gimenez.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
An inside leg kick from LaRusso misses.

Caio Gimenez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
LaRusso throws a leg kick that is checked
and Gimenez counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. LaRusso is lucky that one didn't land flush.
LaRusso looks to throw the jab but Gimenez is out of range.

Gimenez has dropped down and is working for a takedown. LaRusso is trying to keep an underhook but Gimenez manages to get the takedown into half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
LaRusso's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Gimenez wants to control the pace but LaRusso is squirming around nicely.
Gimenez scores with a couple of good head shots there.
LaRusso wants to get back to his feet.
