Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruno Bambino! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Murphy! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bambino rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Murphy moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Murphy misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Murphy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bambino as he avoids it easily. Bambino looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Bambino forces his way into half guard. Bambino stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murphy tries to get to full guard but Bambino has control of the leg. Bambino keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Murphy tries to get to full guard but Bambino has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Bambino is controlling the pace.
Murphy tries to roll over but Bambino keeps him under control. Murphy wants to control the action here but instead Bambino manages to pass to full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bambino sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Murphy is desperately trying to improve his position but Bambino has a good base and remains in mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Bambino postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Murphy looks a forlorn figure.
Murphy is desperately trying to improve his position but Bambino has a good base and remains in mount. Bambino lands a big elbow. Murphy is trying to reverse the position but instead Bambino has taken his back - oops! Even with his hooks in, Bambino manages to miss with strikes from the back. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bambino is working for a rear naked choke. Murphy is not defending it well and Bambino has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Murphy refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Murphy's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bruno Bambino!
