Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Carlson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BeeJay Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlson comes to the cage accompanied by Rage Against The Machine: Bulls On Parade . BeeJay Penn struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 171.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. BeeJay Penn will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, BeeJay Penn! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carlson gets a takedown into half guard. Penn is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carlson 's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carlson 's back! A lull in the action here.
Penn is not going to allow Carlson to sit and survive in this position. Carlson tries to break free.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Carlson fails to land the takedown. BeeJay Penn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Carlson misses the shot to the body. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Carlson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Penn moves away. A jab from Penn misses. Carlson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Penn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Penn holds on to Carlson 's head and controls the position momentarily. Carlson is working Penn over with some ground and pound from side control. Carlson tries to move to mount but Penn blocks the move with his legs.

Carlson in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Carlson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carlson throwing shots but missing, from side control. Carlson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Penn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Carlson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Carlson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Carlson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Penn's legs. Carlson advances nicely into full mount. Carlson looking to finish Penn with some ground and pound. This is bad for Penn! Carlson unloads with some shots from mount but Penn bucks and avoids them well.

Carlson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Penn takes a body punch but keeps moving. Carlson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Carlson lands in his opponent's guard. Carlson trying to control but Penn is working from the bottom. Carlson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Carlson wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving. Carlson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Penn's guard. Penn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Carlson seems to be looking for submissions.

Carlson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Carlson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Penn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Carlson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Penn regains full guard. Nicely done. Penn keeping full guard, as Carlson tries to pass. Carlson postures up in Penn's guard and throws a big left but Penn blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Carlson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Penn dives on top into guard. Penn trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Penn wants to stand but Carlson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Carlson wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carlson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Penn's guard. Carlson is in close to Penn's body, working some short punches and elbows. Carlson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Carlson throws a strike but Penn rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Carlson wants to sweep but no luck.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Carlson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Penn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. BeeJay Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Carlson trying to keep a closed guard but Penn is proving a slippery customer.

And that's the end of the fight! Jamie Carlson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carlson , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
