Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between George Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson has chosen Even Flow by Pearl Jam as his entrance music. Eric Peterson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eric Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Peterson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nelson somewhat.
Nelson misses with a low kick.
Nelson shoots for a takedown but Peterson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nelson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nelson shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Nelson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nelson tries to clinch up but Peterson circles away and keeps his distance.

Peterson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Nelson is trying to keep an underhook but Peterson manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Peterson is trying to control the action in half guard but Nelson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Peterson sprawls well. Peterson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nelson gets slowly back to his feet.

Nelson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nelson throws a series of punches but Peterson avoids them all with ease.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown but Peterson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

A left and a right from Nelson both land. Nice combination.

Peterson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nelson manages to avoid it.

George Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Nelson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Nelson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Peterson wants to clinch but Nelson slips to the side
and Nelson counters with a three punch combo that has Peterson backing up. Peterson nods at Nelson to acknowledge the strikes.

Peterson wants to clinch up but Nelson keeps it at a distance.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Peterson as he avoids it easily.

and Peterson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Nelson's guard.
Nelson wants to hit a switch here but Peterson passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Nelson there!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A nice elbow there by Peterson.

Peterson has hold of Nelson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nelson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peterson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nelson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Nelson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Peterson on the ground.

Peterson tries to score with some ground and pound. Nelson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Peterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nelson keeps working.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nelson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nelson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Peterson thows a body shot but no joy.
Nelson's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Nelson duly obliges.

and Peterson counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Nelson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Eric Peterson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Nelson lands a right hand that snaps the head of Peterson backwards.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Nelson.
Nelson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Peterson walks away with a smile on his face. Nelson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Peterson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

and Peterson counters with a single leg into guard. Nelson didn't expect that.
Nelson wants to sweep here but Peterson controlling him for the moment.

Peterson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Nelson uses from the top position.
