The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vrbanek tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jackson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

No joy there for Vrbanek, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Vrbanek has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Jackson is trying to keep an underhook but Vrbanek manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vrbanek connects with a nice short shot to Jackson's temple.
Jackson pushes Vrbanek off looking to stand but Vrbanek dives back in and keeps control.
Vrbanek perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jackson tries to kick Vrbanek off but Vrbanek keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Vrbanek drags him back down.

Vrbanek decides to stand back up. Vrbanek steps back and let's Jackson get back to his feet.

Vrbanek shoots in and bounces Jackson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Vrbanek stands and throws Jackson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jackson pushes Vrbanek away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Vrbanek gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Vrbanek really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jackson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Vrbanek is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Vrbanek has escaped and now he's on top!

Well Vrbanek has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
