Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lyoto Smith!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Smith missing with a left hand there. Banks was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Smith shoots for a takedown but Banks saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Banks tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Banks uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smith.
Smith has closed the distance and engaged Banks in a clinch.
Banks is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Smith gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Banks throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Smith blocks it with crossed arms.
Banks has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Smith avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Banks breaks Smith's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Banks's guard.
Banks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Smith controls the pace.
Banks looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Banks wants to get back to his feet but Smith is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Smith avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Banks is breathing heavily.
Smith is working Banks over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Smith decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Banks, up you get!

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smith.

and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Banks wants to get back to his feet but Smith passes into half guard.
Banks tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Smith has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Banks is wriggling around trying to escape.

Smith prevents Banks from getting the reversal.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Smith manages to capitalize on a mistake by Banks to take his back!
Banks rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

and Smith counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Smith is controlling the pace.
Smith wants to work for an arm triangle but Banks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lyoto Smith dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Smith shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Banks but Banks pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Banks throws a leg kick which misses Smith's front leg but catches the back leg as Smith tries to avoid it.
Smith shoots in and drives through. Banks sprawls well.
Smith fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Smith looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.

Banks connects with a knee to the head.

Banks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Smith throws a push kick but Banks slaps the foot to one side.

Smith fails to pull guard.
Chris Banks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyoto Smith.

Banks is trying to trip Smith. He has hold of a leg but Smith is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Banks persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Smith stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Banks.
Banks darts in and clinches Smith up against the cage.
Banks connects with a knee right up the middle there - that's rocked Smith badly! Smith tumbles to the floor and Banks stands over him, dominant and satisfied with his glorious KO victory!
