Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Angus MacAngus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Standa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Angus MacAngus has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Angus MacAngus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simon Standa!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for MacAngus with that takedown attempt.
MacAngus has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Standa misses the jab.
MacAngus ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Standa misses with a wild combination.
MacAngus shoots in for a takedown but Standa shows good takedown defense.
MacAngus shoots in for a double leg but Standa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Angus MacAngus. That's going to take a lot out of him.

MacAngus has managed to clinch.
MacAngus looking for a takedown.
Standa has MacAngus pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. MacAngus manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

MacAngus lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Standa avoiding damage under a succession of punches from MacAngus.
Standa trying to control from the bottom.
MacAngus wants to pass the guard but Standa is defending well.
MacAngus will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

MacAngus is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Standa to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

MacAngus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Standa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
MacAngus looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

MacAngus drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and MacAngus jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

MacAngus drops back, looking for a kneebar! Standa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Standa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Standa!
MacAngus struggling a bit here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Standa working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Standa tries to move to mount but MacAngus blocks the move with his legs.
Standa wants to control but MacAngus is keeping him busy.
MacAngus is trying to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
MacAngus is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
MacAngus is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
MacAngus gets back to full guard.
Standa looks gassed!
MacAngus wants to sweep but no luck.
Standa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with MacAngus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Standa trying to control the position from guard on top but MacAngus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

MacAngus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Standa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but MacAngus is tightening it up a little... Standa has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Standa reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Standa taps out! nice BJJ there by MacAngus!
