Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between EL PABLO ERNESTO (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, EL PABLO ERNESTO!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cory Jones!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. ERNESTO looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Jones tries a head kick but it misses.
Jones misses with a series of wild punches.

ERNESTO throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jones was covering up waiting for the punch and ERNESTO finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jones keeping moving, preventing ERNESTO from controlling successfully.
ERNESTO throws a big right hand that misses.
ERNESTO throwing strikes from guard but Jones blocks nicely.

Jones uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Jones tries to bum rush ERNESTO with a series of wild strikes but ERNESTO uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jones lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Jones thuds a left hand into ERNESTO's body.
A swing and a miss from Jones.
Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jones misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but ERNESTO circles away quickly and effectively.
ERNESTO blocks a head kick by Jones.
Jones looks gassed!

ERNESTO looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jones won't allow ERNESTO to pass to mount.
ERNESTO trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.
ERNESTO looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
ERNESTO is working hard here to advance position.

ERNESTO drops an elbow to the side of Jones's head.
Jones is trying to stand up here but ERNESTO is controlling him well.
Jones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
ERNESTO is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
ERNESTO looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jones with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

ERNESTO seems to be working for a kimura but Jones defends the submission attempt.
Jones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
ERNESTO not landing any meaningful shots this time.
ERNESTO landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Jones is trying to stand up here but ERNESTO is controlling him well.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. ERNESTO lands a nice short elbow.
ERNESTO tries to pass to full mount but Jones defends it.
ERNESTO working over Jones with some ground and pound. Jones looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
ERNESTO is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
ERNESTO is trying to control. Jones wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
ERNESTO is nestled in close to Jones, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
ERNESTO passes to side control.
ERNESTO cracks Jones with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

ERNESTO wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.
ERNESTO is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jones is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
ERNESTO lands an elbow.
ERNESTO in side control lands a decent elbow.

ERNESTO decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jones to his feet.
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.

ERNESTO shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jones manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! ERNESTO's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



ERNESTO shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. ERNESTO showed some decent athleticism there.
ERNESTO is trying to control. Jones wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jones tries to kick ERNESTO off but ERNESTO keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
ERNESTO is trying to control the action in half guard but Jones is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

ERNESTO closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Jones is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, ERNESTO asserts his dominance and retains side control.
EL PABLO ERNESTO overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cory Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

ERNESTO postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it.

ERNESTO has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jones misses with a hook. ERNESTO ducked under it nicely.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as ERNESTO accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

ERNESTO is stalling here. Jones is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! ERNESTO seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Jones has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
ERNESTO pushes Jones away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Jones gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
ERNESTO wants to control but Jones postures up.
ERNESTO takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for ERNESTO, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
