Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Timbe Suomi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim Rough! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Suomi scores a takedown into full mount! Rough slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Suomi in particular looking to stall. Suomi takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Suomi is trying to control. Rough wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Rough actively working from the bottom here. Suomi lands with a punch from half guard. Rough moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Rough looks gassed! Suomi is working Rough over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Suomi postures up in Rough's guard and throws a big left but Rough blocks it. Suomi pushes down on Rough's leg and manages to get into half guard. Suomi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rough is looking for a sweep. Suomi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Rough looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Rough is defending against the submission attempts here by Suomi.
Rough is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Suomi pulls his head out easily. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Suomi working over Rough with some ground and pound. Rough looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Suomi has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Suomi lands a heavy elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Suomi is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Rough to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Rough shrugs it off. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Suomi cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Suomi landing strikes from the mount and Rough is in trouble! Suomi dominating with strikes here. Rough is looking to improve his position but Suomi isn't that keen on the idea. Suomi wants to control the pace but Rough is squirming around nicely. Rough is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Rough is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Suomi has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rough's face.
Rough is wriggling around trying to escape.
Suomi has control of Rough's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rough regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Rough is trying desperately to improve position. Rough sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Rough is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Suomi pulls his head out easily. Suomi seems to be working for a kimura but Rough defends the submission attempt. And thats the end of the round the fighters go back to their corners.
Timbe Suomi dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Rough with a poor takedown and Suomi counters with a shoot takedown. Rough fights it but they end up in guard. Suomi works a leg free and moves into half guard. Rough looking for submissions off his back. Ground and pound from Suomi. Suomi trying to mount his opponent but Rough defends it. Suomi is looking for a kimura here.
Suomi seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rough actively working from the bottom here. Timbe Suomi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Suomi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rough is just riding it out for now. Suomi eventually gives up the hold.

Suomi raining down shots from the mount! Suomi with the ground and pound from mount. Suomi is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Rough is surviving well by controlling Suomi's body position as best he can. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Suomi throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Suomi sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Rough taking shots to the head. Rough sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Rough is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Suomi pulls his head out easily. Rough won't allow Suomi to pass to mount.

Suomi is in close to Rough's body, working some short punches and elbows. Rough keeping moving, preventing Suomi from controlling successfully. Suomi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Suomi slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rough is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Suomi has his hands clasped together but Rough extends an breaks Suomi's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Rough.
