Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edward Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksandr Fedorov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendez comes to the ring accompanied by Big Pun-Dream Shatterer. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Edward Mendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aleksandr Fedorov! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fedorov rushes Mendez and presses him up against the ropes. Fedorov lands a shoulder strike. Fedorov breaks the clinch.
Fedorov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Fedorov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Fedorov tries to free his leg and advance position but Mendez is retaining full guard. Mendez is looking for a triangle but Fedorov pushes his legs off easily.

Fedorov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mendez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Mendez is looking for a sweep. Fedorov decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mendez to his feet. Fedorov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Fedorov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Mendez fails with the takedown and Fedorov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mendez's guard. Fedorov controls from within his opponent's guard. Mendez has his foot on Fedorov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fedorov works his way back into a safe position though. Fedorov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Mendez keeping moving, preventing Fedorov from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fedorov controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Fedorov stands up and waves to Mendez to follow him. Mendez fails with the takedown and Fedorov counters into the clinch. Nicely done. The fighters are pressed against the ropes, as the pace of the fight slows. Fedorov pulls guard successfully.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mendez chips away with some ground and pound. Fedorov controlling the position. Fedorov wriggles free and stands up. Fedorov looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Fedorov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mendez, up you get! Mendez with a lazy takedown attempt and Fedorov counters with a nice double leg into half guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edward Mendez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mendez looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Fedorov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
