10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alonso Escovedo! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Escovedo tries for a takedown but Norks sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Escovedo keeps the fight on the outside. Escovedo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Norks circles away. Escovedo misses with a wild body shot. Norks misses with a head kick.
Nice takedown defense from Norks. No joy for Escovedo on that attempt. Alfie Norks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alonso Escovedo. Norks fails in his attempt to clinch. Escovedo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Norks is fending him off so far but Escovedo persists. Nope, Norks circles away and we're back to standing. Norks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Escovedo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Norks sees it coming and defends easily. Norks wants to control but Escovedo is keeping busy.
Norks is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Escovedo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Norks is concentrating on defense, preventing Escovedo from advancing position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Escovedo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Escovedo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Norks stuffs the takedown. Norks defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Escovedo. Escovedo looks gassed! Norks tries to score with a low kick but Escovedo moves his leg out of the way. Escovedo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Norks tries to hold on but Escovedo postures up. Norks is looking to get to half guard. Norks tries to lock up and control but Escovedo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Norks is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Norks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Escovedo is working away from the top position though. Norks is looking for a sweep. Escovedo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Norks is refusing to be controlled, as Escovedo sits in half guard. Escovedo is thwarting Norks's attempts to control the position. Escovedo wants to control but Norks is keeping him busy. Norks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Escovedo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Norks doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Escovedo.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Norks turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Escovedo is breathing heavily. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Norks lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Escovedo has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Escovedo and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Norks scoring well with a low kick there.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Norks throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Norks chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Boom. That sent Escovedo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Norks throws a quick inside leg kick. Norks throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Escovedo. Norks tries to clinch up but Escovedo circles away and keeps his distance. Norks with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
