The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Amaral dives in and grabs Forte's left leg, looking for a takedown. Forte pushes down on Amaral's head and hops out. Nice sprawl there from Forte as Amaral shoots in. Amaral swats away the attempt to clinch by Forte. Forte with a poor takedown and Amaral decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Forte's guard. Amaral drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Forte manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Amaral has Forte in his guard. Forte has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Amaral is on top in guard.
Forte is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Forte looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Forte knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Amaral on the ground. Amaral pushes down on Forte's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Amaral is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Forte sees it coming and defends easily. Forte looks like he's trying to stand up.

Forte wants to control but Amaral is keeping busy and won't allow it. Amaral wants to work for an arm triangle but Forte is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Amaral shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Forte counters with a shoot takedown. Amaral fights it but they end up in guard. Jon Forte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mair Amaral. Forte wanted to stand there but Amaral had control of the position. Amaral keeping moving, preventing Forte from controlling successfully. Forte trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Forte stopping the sweep attempt from Amaral.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Forte trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Amaral is on top in guard.
Amaral tries to free his leg and advance position but Forte is retaining full guard. Forte manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Forte postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Amaral looks a forlorn figure.

A close round but Mair Amaral will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Forte tries for a takedown but Amaral sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jon Forte seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Forte darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Amaral is trying to get back to full guard. Forte throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Amaral gets full guard. Amaral is breathing heavily. Forte wants to stand but Amaral has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Amaral had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Forte defends it easily. Forte wanted to stand there but Amaral had control of the position. Forte trying to control the position from guard on top but Amaral is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Forte tries to free his leg and advance position but Amaral is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Amaral has a closed guard, preventing Forte from standing up. Forte stands up over Amaral, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Forte trying to stand up but can't free himself from Amaral's guard. Amaral pulls Forte in close to prevent any damage. Forte working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Amaral's head.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Forte shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Amaral but Amaral pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Amaral looks to throw the jab but Forte is out of range. Forte shoots for a double leg takedown but Amaral sprawls well. He's pushed Forte's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Forte. That's going to take a lot out of him. Amaral pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Forte is looking to clinch but Amaral is avoiding it.
Forte closes the distance looking to clinch and Amaral counters with a nice double leg into side control. Forte won't be happy with that. Amaral tries for a kimura but Forte is defending well. Forte manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Amaral looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Forte scores with a few weak punches. Forte gets full guard. Amaral prevents Forte from getting back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mair Amaral showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Forte fails in his attempt to clinch. Amaral misses with a takedown attempt and Forte counters with a nice double leg into side control. Amaral won't be happy with that. Forte wants to stand but Amaral has his arm trapped. Forte wants to lay and pray for a moment but Amaral keeps working. Amaral manages to get back to half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Amaral slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Amaral pushes Forte off and scrambles back to his feet.
Jon Forte is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Forte fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Amaral, pushing him back against the cage. Forte tries to score a body lock takedown but Amaral shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Knees to the body from Forte.
Forte gets underhooks to prevent Amaral's takedown attempt.
Forte turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Amaral is looking for a sweep. Forte happy to just control the position for now. Forte scores with punches from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Forte working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Forte decides to stand up, so the ref orders Amaral to his feet. Forte closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Forte lands in his opponent's guard. Amaral keeping moving, preventing Forte from controlling successfully. Amaral throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Forte trying to control the position from guard on top but Amaral is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Forte is looking to stand up but Amaral won't let him. Amaral is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Forte scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
