Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Rage! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Greg Birch! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Lou da Vinci and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Birch stuffs the takedown. Birch clobbers Rage with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Birch chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Rage shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Birch's guard. Rage trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Rage pushes down on Birch's leg and manages to get into half guard. Rage wants to pass the guard but Birch is defending well. Birch wants to get back to his feet.
Birch is trying is best to control the position here. Birch is trying to stand up here but Rage is controlling him well. Birch is trying to maintain the position but Rage is very close to passing his half guard. Birch is defending against the submission attempts here by Rage.
Rage uses his free foot to push down on Birch's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Birch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rage swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Birch is now in Rage's guard. A big mistake from Rage there, giving up the dominant position! Rage is breathing heavily. Rage looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Birch has picked Rage up and slammed him! Rage can't keep hold of the triangle and Birch manages to pass to side control! Birch misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Rage is not content to let Birch control the position. Birch lands a nice forearm strike. Birch stands up and beckons Rage to his feet. Richard Rage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Birch scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. A right-left combo lands from Birch.
Rage is rocked! Rage shoots in and drives through. Birch sprawls well. Oh Rage is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Rage is looking to clinch but Birch is avoiding it.
Birch throws an overhand right that has Rage reeling! Birch follows up with a more punches and Rage is out cold! This one is all over!
