Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Devereau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eli Straw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Devereau comes to the cage accompanied by Sans Pression-Territoire Hostile. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Desmond Devereau! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eli Straw! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Devereau throws a right and a left that Straw avoids nicely. Straw fails to land with a series of punches.
A solid leg kick lands there for Devereau.
Straw fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Devereau, pushing him back against the cage. Devereau tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Straw drops down looking for an ankle pick but Devereau pulls his leg out and moves away.
Devereau tries to score with a low kick but Straw moves his leg out of the way. Devereau rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Straw moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Devereau has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Devereau there as he acknowledges the shot. Devereau fails to land with a series of punches.
Straw throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Devereau. Devereau walks into a jab.
Devereau is rocked! Straw closes the distance and clinches. Oh Devereau is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Devereau wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Devereau throws an elbow that misses.

Straw slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Let's hope that Straw has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Devereau looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Devereau is breathing heavily. Straw working some strikes from top position. Straw controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. I looks like Straw might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Straw really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Devereau. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Straw slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Despite being in the dominant position, Eli Straw just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Straw throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Devereau's waist but Devereau gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Straw off to one side. Nice sprawl there from Devereau as Straw shoots in. Desmond Devereau has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eli Straw. Devereau displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Devereau looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Straw throws a nice looking combination but Devereau bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Straw scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Straw cracks Devereau with a right hand to the side of the head. Devereau tries to bum rush Straw with a series of wild strikes but Straw uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Straw fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Straw on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Devereau. Devereau obviously looking to wear him down.
A chopping leg kick lands by Devereau. Devereau attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Devereau takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Devereau misses with a combination
and Straw connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Straw checks a leg kick. A combination from Devereau does no damage. Devereau misses with a low kick. Straw misses with a double jab.
Devereau drops his hands momentarily. Straw doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Devereau staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Devereau doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Eli Straw!
