Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shamus Cotter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reggie Lythgoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Shamus Cotter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Reggie Lythgoe! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cotter closes the distance and clinches up with Lythgoe, looking for a takedown. Cotter pushes Lythgoe against the cage but Lythgoe circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Cotter rushes Lythgoe and presses him up against the cage. Lythgoe lands a good knee to the midsection. Cotter won't want to take too many of those. Lythgoe is trying to break the clinch but Cotter is controlling him. Lythgoe escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lythgoe scores a takedown into full mount! Lythgoe throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Cotter because Lythgoe loaded up on that one. Lythgoe tries to control but Cotter wriggling away. A nice elbow there by Lythgoe. Poor strikes thrown by Lythgoe there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Cotter is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lythgoe punching from mount but Cotter doing a good job of avoiding damage. Lythgoe wants to control the pace but Cotter is squirming around nicely. Lythgoe with the ground and pound from mount. Cotter swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Lythgoe sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Cotter working to try and regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Cotter is working hard here to advance position. Lythgoe avoids the attempt from Cotter to control. Lythgoe controlling the pace for now. Let's hope that Lythgoe has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Lythgoe cracks Cotter with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lythgoe controlling from mount. Lythgoe wants to control the pace but Cotter is squirming around nicely. A nice elbow there by Lythgoe. Lythgoe lands a big shot there that rocks Cotter but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Lythgoe trying to control but he's not successful this time. Cotter has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Lythgoe's lack of action.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Reggie Lythgoe. Lythgoe moves into the clinch. Lythgoe breaks the clinch.
Cotter has his takedown stuffed so Lythgoe counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Reggie Lythgoe dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Cotter fails with the takedown and Lythgoe counters with a shoot takedown. Cotter fights it but they end up in guard. Lythgoe would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Lythgoe wants to control from the top but Cotter keeps moving. Cotter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lythgoe! Lythgoe working to try and regain half guard.

Cotter is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Lythgoe is trying to get back to full guard. Cotter is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lythgoe sees it coming and defends easily. Lythgoe blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cotter. Cotter is thwarting Lythgoe's attempts to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Lythgoe is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Cotter is staying active. Lythgoe tries to get to full guard but Cotter has control of the leg.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Cotter moves into the clinch successfully.
Cotter comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Lythgoe's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Lythgoe is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Cotter is trying to maintain a safe position but Lythgoe gets an underhook and turns Cotter into the cage. Cotter successfully pulls guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Lythgoe not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Cotter looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Reggie Lythgoe. Cotter fails with the takedown and Lythgoe counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cotter won't be happy with that. Cotter tries to bench press Lythgoe off him but Lythgoe keeps the position. Cotter taking punishment in the form of punches.
Lythgoe is looking to take a break and control but Cotter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Cotter is trying to improve his position. Lythgoe decides to stand back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Reggie Lythgoe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Lythgoe with a lazy takedown attempt and Cotter counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lythgoe! Cotter prevents Lythgoe from getting the reversal. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cotter landing strikes, looking to finish! Lythgoe reaches up to try and control the position but Cotter seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Lythgoe rolls and tries to escape and now Cotter has his back!

Lythgoe trying to control the position but Cotter manages to sink in the hooks. Cotter working for a choke but Lythgoe reverses nicely into Cotter 's guard. Lythgoe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Lythgoe wants to control from the top but Cotter keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lythgoe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cotter is keeping the position for now. Lythgoe is sitting in close to Cotter's body. Cotter has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Lythgoe is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Lythgoe is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Cotter.
