Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack McGann! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Karl Belin! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGann fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Belin, pushing him back against the cage. Belin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McGann just stands there and leans against the cage. Belin looking to stall.
Belin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McGann gets the underhooks and prevents it.
McGann is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. McGann is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Belin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGann has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Belin clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Belin tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
That's one minute gone in the round. McGann swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Belin is now in McGann's guard. A big mistake from McGann there, giving up the dominant position! Belin trying to control but McGann is working from the bottom. Belin is looking to work some ground and pound but McGann has wrist control. Belin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McGann is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Belin, into his guard. Belin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. McGann throws and elbow that misses. Belin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McGann's guard. Nice move by Belin! McGann can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Belin controls the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Belin wants to pass the guard but McGann is keeping the position. Belin looking to sit in guard and control but McGann gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. McGann throws a strike but Belin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Belin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. McGann is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Belin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McGann manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Belin has McGann in his guard. Belin looking to control.
McGann stopping the sweep attempt from Belin. Belin is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but McGann frees his head nicely. Oh but Belin has switched to an armbar! McGann is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
