Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jayson Mercado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derick Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jayson Mercado! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derick Adams! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adams rushes Mercado and presses him up against the cage. Mercado wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mercado jumps guard but Adams stands there with Mercado around his waist. Mercado gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Adams is trying to trip Mercado. He has hold of a leg but Mercado is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Adams persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Adams prevents Mercado from getting back to his feet. Mercado manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Adams manages to get himself to full guard.
Adams pulls Mercado in to control the position. Mercado showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mercado trying to control the position from guard on top but Adams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mercado has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Adams seems keen to control Mercado's posture. Mercado wants to control from the top but Adams keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Adams manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mercado manages to get himself to full guard.
Mercado might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Mercado wants to sweep but no luck. Mercado being controlled here, momentarily. Mercado trying to keep a closed guard but Adams is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Adams is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Adams wants to control from the top but Mercado keeps moving. Mercado is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Adams is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Derick Adams. Mercado tries to clinch but fails miserably and Adams moves into the clinch. Mercado tries to pull guard but Adams holds him up against the cage and eventually Mercado drops back down to his feet.

Mercado would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Adams wants to sweep here but Mercado controlling him for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mercado tries to free his leg and advance position but Adams is retaining full guard. Adams tries to land a sweep but no joy. Adams trying to control the position here. Mercado trying to move into half guard but instead Adams has managed to sweep! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derick Adams dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Mercado throws a sloppy head kick and Adams moves out of range easily. Mercado tries to clinch but fails miserably and Adams counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Adams is looking to advance position but Mercado won't allow it. Adams not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Adams is looking for a kimura here.
Mercado works his way to full guard. Good work. Adams distracts Mercado with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Mercado is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Adams is controlling him. Mercado is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Adams stays in close to Mercado's body and controls the position. Mercado wants to control the position but Adams says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Adams looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mercado with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Adams controlling the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Adams connects with a nice short shot to Mercado's temple. Adams uses his free foot to push down on Mercado's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mercado. Mercado is desperately trying to improve his position but Adams has a good base and remains in mount. BOOM! Adams connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Adams controlling from the full mount. Mercado is in a horrible position here. Adams smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Adams pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Adams avoids the attempt from Mercado to control. Adams looking to control and managing it successfully. Adams lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Despite being in the dominant position, Derick Adams just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mercado clinches but Adams breaks the clinch and Adams counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mercado! Derick Adams has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Adams cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Mercado is in all sorts of trouble here.
Adams with shots to the head and body - Mercado looks very uncomfortable down there. Adams takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derick Adams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Adams shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Adams showed some decent athleticism there. Adams takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Mercado is trying to control but can't.
Mercado tries to get to full guard but Adams has control of the leg. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Adams landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Well, if Adams is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Adams's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's one minute gone in the round. Adams lands strikes from half guard. Adams working over Mercado with some ground and pound. Mercado looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Mercado taking some punishment here, with Adams in his half guard. Adams is taking a breather. Mercado says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Adams takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Adams controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Derick Adams. Mercado darts in trying to clinch and Adams counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mercado's guard now. Adams lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Adams slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Adams won't allow Mercado to sweep him here. Adams works a leg free and moves into half guard. Still in half guard, Adams seems content to control.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Adams lands a nice short elbow. Adams passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mercado! Mercado is desperately trying to improve his position but Adams has a good base and remains in mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Adams looking to control and managing it successfully. Mercado is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Adams with shots to the head and body - Mercado looks very uncomfortable down there. Adams controlling the pace for now. The referee warns Mercado that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

And that's the end of the fight! Derick Adams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Adams has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
