Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alan Montes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rilo Ban (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alan Montes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rilo Ban!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ban stuffs the takedown.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ban.
Montes prevents Ban from moving into mount.

Ban tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ban has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Montes is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Montes on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Ban throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Montes works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Montes is defending against the submission attempts here by Ban.
Montes is trying to stand up here but Ban is controlling him well.
Ban wants to free his trapped foot but Montes is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Ban throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ban seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Montes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Montes fails in his attempt to clinch.

Ban closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Ban is looking to take a break and control but Montes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ban postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Montes pushes Ban away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ban gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Montes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ban on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Montes misses with a takedown

and Ban counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Montes!

Ban wants to finish this one by submission but Montes is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ban.
Ban has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Montes's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Ban is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Montes can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Montes bucks up and throws Ban to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

Ban trying to mount his opponent but Montes defends it.

Ban is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Ban seems to be working for a kimura but Montes defends the submission attempt.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Montes tries to kick Ban off but Ban keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Ban shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ban showed some decent athleticism there.
Ban is trying to control. Montes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Rilo Ban has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ban is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Montes pushes Ban off and gets back to his feet.

Montes misses with a takedown

and Ban counters with a shoot takedown. Montes fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alan Montes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ban is pushing down on Montes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Montes is fighting to maintain full guard but Ban has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Montes looks like he's trying to stand up.

Ban stops Montes from getting back to his feet.

Ban thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Montes's head.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Montes tries to clinch

and Ban counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Montes!
You get the feeling that Montes really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Ban throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Montes squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Ban moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Montes has worked his arm free - good work by Montes!

Ban is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Montes is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Ban trying to control the position but Montes is working away.

Ban goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Montes has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ban but great work by Montes.
Ban is looking for a sweep.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Montes prevents Ban from escaping the position.
Ban tries to improve position but can't.

Ban explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rilo Ban showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ban is defended easily by Montes.
Ban fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Ban counters with a nice double leg into side control. Montes won't be happy with that.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ban is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Montes is trying to escape and Ban transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Montes is forced to tap! Nice work there by Ban! Very nice indeed!
