Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Vass! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Guy Smiley! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smiley misses with a wild combination.

Vass fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Vass shoots in for a double leg but Smiley sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Vass. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smiley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Smiley lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Vass shoots for a takedown but Smiley saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Vass tries to close the distance and clinch but Smiley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Vass clinches but Smiley breaks the clinch and Smiley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Smiley lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Smiley.

Guy Smiley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Vass takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Nick Vass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vass throws a head kick that misses and Smiley counters with a three punch combo that has Vass backing up. Vass nods at Smiley to acknowledge the strikes. Vass with a poor takedown and Smiley counters with a lovely straight right hand! Smiley pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Vass tries to clinch but Smiley moves away and Smiley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Smiley is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Vass had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Smiley works Vass's body with a nice hook. Vass showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Smiley.
Vass throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smiley's waist but Smiley gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vass off to one side. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Vass tries to shoot in for a takedown. Smiley throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Vass stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. A nice combination there by Smiley.
Smiley gets caught flat footed, as Vass shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Vass gets to his feet. Smiley looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Smiley swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Vass counters with a nice double leg into side control. Smiley won't be happy with that. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Smiley is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Vass stands up and beckons Smiley to his feet. Nick Vass is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Vass tries for a takedown but Smiley sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nick Vass dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vass jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Smiley walks away with a smile on his face. Vass gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Vass looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Vass dodges the punch combination from Smiley.
Smiley is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Smiley connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Vass momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smiley paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Vass shoots in looking for a takedown. Smiley tries to sprawl out of it but Vass keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smiley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Smiley scores with a spinning back kick! Vass fails in his attempt to clinch. Smiley looks to land a combination. Vass sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Vass tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smiley sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vass somewhat. Smiley clinches up with Vass and pushes him back against the cage. Vass slows down the pace here.

Vass tries to score a body lock takedown but Smiley shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Smiley breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Smiley pushes Vass up against the cage in a clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Vass is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Vass tries to pull guard but Smiley won't allow it.
