Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Vargas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Wrassla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlos Vargas has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Vargas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Wrassla! The judges for this bout are , and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vargas throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wrassla was covering up waiting for the punch and Vargas finishes the takedown easily into guard. Vargas decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Wrassla, up you get! Wrassla shoots and misses and Vargas counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Wrassla should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Wrassla doesn't succeed with the takedown and Vargas makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Wrassla misses with a kick to the body and Vargas counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Wrassla is trying to maintain a safe position but Vargas gets an underhook and turns Wrassla into the cage. Vargas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Vargas moves into range and connects with a jab. Vargas fails in his attempt to clinch. Vargas thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Wrassla if he has to take too many more of those.
Vargas gets the takedown into side control. Wrassla can't do much from the bottom here. Vargas is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wrassla knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vargas remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Vargas tries to advance to mount but can't. Vargas has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Wrassla gets caught flat footed, as Vargas shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vargas won't allow Wrassla to get back to his feet. Wrassla looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Vargas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Vargas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wrassla has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vargas has managed to get both his arms back between Wrassla's legs - danger averted. Vargas won't allow Wrassla to sweep him here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vargas with a flurry of punches that miss. Wrassla has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vargas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Vargas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wrassla is keeping the position for now. Vargas is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wrassla trying to control the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Wrassla throws a sloppy head kick and Vargas counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wrassla's guard now. Wrassla throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Vargas escapes and throws Wrassla's legs to the side, diving into side control! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Vargas postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Vargas moves into full mount! Vargas moves to the back position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vargas is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Wrassla defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Vargas is hanging on to Wrassla's back as he tries to escape.
Vargas tries to get the hooks in deep but Wrassla pushed the leg off. Wrassla is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Wrassla looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlos Vargas dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Wrassla tries to clinch but Vargas moves out of range. Wrassla thows a leg kick but Vargas checks it and Vargas counters with a head kick. That will keep Wrassla thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Wrassla gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Vargas counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Vargas performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Carlos Vargas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wrassla wants to get back to his feet.
Vargas missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vargas decides to stand up. Wrassla clinches up with Vargas and pushes him back against the cage. Wrassla lands a left hand.
Vargas working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Vargas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wrassla lands a jab to Vargas's midsection. Wrassla gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Vargas counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Wrassla! Wrassla is looking to improve his position but Vargas isn't that keen on the idea. Vargas throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Wrassla because Vargas loaded up on that one.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wrassla tries to lock up and control but Vargas gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Wrassla really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Vargas is working for a guillotine from mount but Wrassla frees his head quite easily.
Wrassla is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wrassla tries to hold on but Vargas postures up. Wrassla keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Wrassla tries to lock up and control but Vargas gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Vargas wants to control the pace but Wrassla is squirming around nicely. Wrassla wants to hold on but Vargas pushes him away. Wrassla is trying desperately to improve position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Vargas jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Wrassla manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. The fight moves into the clinch position. Wrassla tries to break free but Vargas pushes him back against the cage. Wrassla gets underhooks to prevent Vargas's takedown attempt.
Wrassla is trying to force a seperation but Vargas has the dominant position. Vargas keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Wrassla's efforts to push away. Wrassla avoiding damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlos Vargas dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Wrassla clinches but Vargas breaks the clinch and Vargas counters with a single leg into guard. Wrassla didn't expect that. Wrassla looking to control.
Wrassla thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Vargas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Vargas's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Wrassla will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Vargas sitting in guard here, content to control. Wrassla looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vargas is one step ahead there. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wrassla is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wrassla is trying to control the position from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Wrassla is looking to clinch. Vargas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Well, if Vargas is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Vargas is thwarting Wrassla's attempts to control the position. Vargas stops Wrassla from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wrassla wants to get back to full guard. Vargas is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Wrassla is looking to improve his position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Wrassla is looking to clinch. Wrassla tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vargas paws at him with a jab and circles away. Wrassla scores with a body shot.
Wrassla tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vargas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wrassla somewhat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wrassla tries to clinch up. Wrassla throws a body kick that misses. Vargas scores with a head kick.
Wrassla throws a lazy head kick so Vargas counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Vargas won't allow Wrassla to sweep him here. Wrassla is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Vargas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Vargas trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vargas stands and steps away. Wrassla gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Carlos Vargas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Wrassla is looking to clinch but Vargas is avoiding it.
Wrassla fails in his attempt to clinch. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wrassla is defended easily by Vargas. Vargas swats away the attempt to clinch by Wrassla. Vargas scores a takedown into full mount! Vargas jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Wrassla is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Wrassla and Vargas has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
And that's the end of the fight! Carlos Vargas showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Vargas, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
