Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bartosz Jarecki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reggie Cardinal! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cardinal scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Jarecki shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cardinal as he avoids it easily. Reggie Cardinal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cardinal scores a takedown into full mount! Jarecki wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Cardinal.
Jarecki is looking to get to half guard. Cardinal thowing shots but they're missing. Cardinal unloads with some shots from mount but Jarecki bucks and avoids them well.
Cardinal is in the full mount, landing strikes. Cardinal throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Jarecki is trying desperately to improve position. Jarecki is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jarecki tries to hold on but Cardinal pushes him away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cardinal with the ground and pound from mount. Cardinal misses with some ground and pound and Jarecki recovers position to half guard. Cardinal missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Cardinal throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Jarecki wants to control but Cardinal is keeping busy.
Jarecki looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Jarecki is looking to control Cardinal's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jarecki avoid being mounted? Cardinal thows an elbow strike that misses. Jarecki gets hold of full guard and has managed to get a loose guillotine attempt. Cardinal doesn't seem too bothered but Jarecki quickly shifts his position and has tightened the hold! Cardinal is in big trouble now - he's going a funny colour - he's tapping out! Nice finish there! Cardinal really should have spotted the danger earlier though... either incompetence or over-confidence has resulted in a big L on his record.
