Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Bear! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damon Rekker! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.

Bear pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Rekker back to the cage. Bear follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Donk. Bear catches Rekker right on the button with a cross. Bear looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rekker is fending him off so far but Bear persists. Nope, Rekker circles away and we're back to standing. Rekker misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rekker tries to land a front kick but Bear steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Bear fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rekker avoids it really well and circles away. Bear misses with a takedown attempt - Rekker sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Bear. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bear fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rekker avoids it really well and circles away. Rekker lands a glancing blow to the side of Bear's head.

and Bear counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rekker's guard now. Bear is looking to work some ground and pound but Rekker has wrist control. Bear looking to sit in guard and control but Rekker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rekker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bear looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bear looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bear! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bear is chipping away with strikes.

The ground and pound from Bear seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Bear trying to control the position but Rekker is working away. Rekker manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Rekker passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bear! Bear wants to hold on but Rekker pushes him away.
Rekker is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bear can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Bear on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bear tries to get out of the position.

Rekker goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Bear turns into him and now he's in Rekker's guard.
Bear trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bear stands up over Rekker, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Bear knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rekker on the ground. Bear wanted to stand there but Rekker had control of the position. Bear throws a strike but Rekker rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Rekker drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bear dives on top into guard. Bear has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Bear in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Rekker looking for a sweep. Not yet Rekker, not yet. Bear loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Bear drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rekker looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rekker looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rekker! You can see the frustration on Bear's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Bear dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Rekker loads up on a big right hand but Bear slips the punch. Horrible takedown by Bear or perhaps it was just good defense by Rekker which made him look bad.
Bear closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rekker to the mat! Rekker manages to get full guard. Rekker avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Bear looking to sit in guard and control but Rekker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rekker drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bear dives on top into guard. Bear throws and elbow that misses. Rekker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bear's guard. Nice move by Rekker!

Bear throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Rekker takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Bear misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Rekker parries the strikes from Bear easily there. Bear is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rekker to escape.
Bear wants to control but Rekker is keeping him busy.

Bear throws a strike but Rekker rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Bear pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rekker is keeping the position for now. Bear throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Rekker has his hands on Bear's head, controlling the position. Rekker has momentary wrist control but Bear slips an elbow through the middle. Bear is working Rekker over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Bear dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bear lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Rekker has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Rekker and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Rekker moves into range and connects with a jab. Rekker swings widly with a right hand
and Bear counters with a good low kick that Rekker was not able to check. Rekker keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Rekker connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Bear tries to close the distance and clinch but Rekker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Bear fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Bear holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Rekker tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Rekker has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bear uses from the top position. Bear wants to pass the guard but Rekker is keeping the position. Bear looking to sit in guard and control but Rekker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Bear. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bear, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
