Rogers comes to the cage accompanied by American Badass by Kid Rock. Smalls has chosen Kelis - Milkshake as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucien Smalls!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rogers moves into range and clinches up with Smalls.
Rogers blocks a body shot from Smalls.
Rogers is leaning against Smalls and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Rogers blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Rogers is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Smalls is looking to break free of the clinch but Rogers has double underhooks.

Rogers will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Smalls up against the cage.
Rogers lands a body punch in the clinch.
Rogers lands a left hand.
Nice body punch from Smalls - that landed with a thud.
Rogers using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Smalls has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Smalls manages to break the clinch.

and Rogers counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rogers slips a nice elbow through Smalls's hands, connecting with Smalls's forehead.

Smalls tries to get to full guard but Rogers has control of the leg.

Rogers takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rogers is looking to take a break and control but Smalls is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rogers wants to pass the guard but Smalls is defending well.

Rogers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smalls keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Smalls is trying to control but Rogers passes into side control!
Rogers throws an elbow but Smalls slips to the side and avoids it well.
Smalls is not content to let Rogers control the position.

Smalls sneaks back into half guard.

Rogers is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smalls is just riding it out for now. Rogers eventually gives up the hold.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rogers is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Smalls has managed to free his arm - good work.
Rogers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Smalls won't allow Rogers to pass to mount.
Smalls trying to control here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rogers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

The referee warns Smalls that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Smalls tries to improve his position but Rogers has taken his back! Rogers has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Smalls tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Rogers pushes Smalls away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
